Getting Started with the BTCO Mobile App
Before diving into the app’s features, it’s essential to set up your GSM module correctly. This module serves as the bridge between your starter and your mobile device.
Connecting the GSM Module
First things first, when you purchase your GSM module, ensure that you ask your vendor to port the module to the SIM card that you plan to use. Once that’s done, connect the GSM module to your starter and provide the necessary power supply. With everything powered on, you’re ready to take control.
Downloading the BTCO App
Next, download the BTCO app from the official website. Upon launching the app for the first time, it will request permission to access certain features on your device. Grant these permissions to proceed.
Adding Your Starter
Now that your app is set up, it’s time to add your starter. The process is straightforward and user-friendly.
Steps to Add a Starter
- Tap on the “Get Started” button.
- Select “Add Starter.” You’ll need to input the starter’s name and its associated SIM number.
- For identification, give your starter a unique name. For example, if your starter is in your pump house, you could name it “Pump House 1.”
- Enter the mobile number associated with the SIM in the GSM module.
- Once all details are filled, tap on “Add Starter.”
Your screen will now display the starter with an on/off button and real-time voltage and current readings. The app can manage up to 100 starters, making it perfect for large setups.
Using the App to Control Your Starter
The primary function of the BTCO mobile app is to give you control over your starters from your mobile device. This includes turning them on and off, refreshing their status, adjusting Overload trip amps and Set Timers (3 modes available)
Turning Your Starter On and Off
To turn your starter on, simply tap the “On” button. The app will communicate with the GSM module to send the command to the starter. You’ll see a status message indicating that the request is being sent.
Similarly, to turn off the starter, tap the “Off” button, and the app will process the request just like it did for turning it on. This seamless interaction allows you to control your motor without being physically present.
Monitoring Status and Parameters
The app not only allows you to control the starter but also provides real-time data. You’ll see current readings, voltage levels, and the status of the starter, such as “Motor Running” or “Motor Off.”
If there’s an error, such as a mains problem, the app will notify you instantly with a red error message. This real-time feedback is crucial for maintaining your equipment and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
Adjusting Overload Settings
Another key feature of the BTCO app is the ability to adjust overload trip settings directly from your phone. This is vital for ensuring your starter operates within safe limits.

- Access the overload settings within the app.
- You’ll see the current overload setting displayed (e.g., 7).
- To adjust, select “Increase” or “Decrease” and enter your desired value.
- Once you’ve set the new value, the app will send a request to the starter, and you’ll see the updated value reflected in real-time.

Timer Modes
BTCO Starters’ mobile control app also comes with three configurable timers.
- Normal Timer: Runs for the set time and turns off
- Example: Run of 3 hours from now
- Cyclic Timer: Turns ON and OFF the starter in Cyclic Manner. Ideal for cases with less water deposits
- Example: Run for 3 hours, Turn off for 2 hours in cycles
- RTC (Real Time Clock Timer): Run everyday at specific times. Supports upto two slots a day
- Example: Run everyday at 10:00 for 2 hours and everyday at 17:00 for 3 hours
Managing Multiple Starters
BTCO starters Mobile Control App supports multiple starters and you can control upto 100 BTCO starters from a single app. The app simplifies management with color-coded identification, making it easy to differentiate between the starters added at a glance.
Adding Additional Starters
To add more starters, tap on the “Add New Starter” button. Just like before, fill in the necessary details and ensure that the mobile number and starter type are correctly entered. The app will not allow you to proceed unless all information is accurate.
Once added, you can seamlessly switch between starters and control them individually or collectively, depending on your setup.
Diagnosing Issues with Your Starter
One of the most powerful features of the BTCO app is its ability to diagnose issues. If there’s a problem, the app will alert you, allowing you to take corrective action quickly.
Notifications of these alerts are sent to you on real-time basis via Push Notifications. Notifications include:
- Status changes and Error Notifications per Starter configured in the app(example: Motor Running to Over Load Trip)
- Overload Trip Amps Change
- Power cut or Power restoration notifications
- Timer Initiation and ending notifications
- Data Pack Expiry Notifications
Understanding Error Messages
When an error occurs, such as a mains problem, the app will display a message in red. For example, if the mains are cut off, the app will show “Mains Problem,” and the corresponding starter’s status will reflect that it is off.
These alerts ensure that you are always informed about the condition of your equipment, allowing you to address issues before they escalate.
Refreshing the Status of Your Starter
Sometimes, you may want to check on the status of your starter after some time has passed. The app allows you to refresh the status easily.
Steps to Refresh Status
- Simply tap the “Refresh Status” button.
- The app will communicate with the GSM module to retrieve the latest information.
- Within moments, you’ll see the updated status and parameters reflected on your screen.
