Submersible Pump Starters
A burnt submersible motor means a costly rewind and days without water. The right starter stops that from happening. Protection in every BTCO starter
A submersible motor burns when it runs dry, runs on a missing phase, or draws too much current for too long. Every BTCO starter watches the motor and cuts the power before that happens. Here is what each starter has.

Stop your motor from burning
- Dry borewell: the motor runs with no water to cool it and burns. Dry run protection stops it and starts it again after your set time.
- Missing phase or voltage swings: the motor draws too much current and the winding burns. Single phasing and voltage fluctuation protection trip it first.
- Jammed pump or tired motor: the current climbs slowly. Overload protection trips it before the heat does damage.

Frequently asked questions
Which starter do I need for my submersible motor?
It depends on three things: your motor (single phase or 3 phase), its cable (single cable or double cable) and your power supply. For a 3 phase single cable motor up to 10 HP on 3 phase supply, take the DOL-03. For a double cable motor from 7.5 to 30 HP, take the FASD-03 star delta starter. On juice line or 2 phase supply, take a Combined DOL or Combined star delta starter. For a single phase motor, take the FASP-01.
Which starter for a 5, 7.5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 HP submersible motor?
A 5 HP 3 phase single cable motor takes the DOL-03, and a 5 HP single phase motor takes the FASP-01 Agro. At 7.5 and 10 HP, a single cable motor takes the DOL-03 and a double cable motor takes the FASD-03 star delta. From 12.5 HP up to 30 HP (15, 20, 25 HP) the motor is double cable and takes the FASD-03. On juice line or 2 phase supply, use the Combined starters instead (juice line only up to 10 HP).
What is the difference between single cable and double cable motors?
A single cable motor has one cable with 3 wires and starts directly on line (DOL). A double cable motor has two cables, 6 wires, and starts in star and then changes to delta, which is gentler for big motors. Bigger motors, usually from 7.5 HP, are double cable and need a star delta starter.
Can a 3 phase motor run on 2 phase or juice line?
Yes, with a BTCO Combined starter. The Combined DOL runs a 3 phase single cable motor up to 10 HP on juice line, 2 phase or 3 phase. The Combined star delta runs double cable motors up to 25 HP on 2 phase or 3 phase, and on juice line only up to 10 HP. Above 10 HP, juice line is not safe for the motor.
Do BTCO starters protect the motor from burning?
Yes, that is what they are made for. Every BTCO starter has dry run and overload protection, and the 3 phase starters stop the motor when a phase goes missing. They trip on the motor current, so they also give voltage fluctuation protection; the Single Phase starter adds low and high voltage protection. Can I add mobile control later?
Yes. Fit the BTCO GSM Module to any BTCO starter bought from January 2024 onwards and switch the motor from the app or by SMS. If your starter is older, call us to check first. See how a mobile starter works.
How much does a BTCO starter cost?

What is the warranty?
BTCO starters come with a 1 year warranty (on the DOL-03 and FASD-03 it covers the MPAU unit). Capacitors have a 6 month warranty. See the warranty tab on each product page for the details.
