Press the Auto Switch to manual position and supply the power to MPAU, see the LCD immediately, which will display a message BTCO MPAU on the first line and C.C. No. in the second line. Within 8 seconds of display press the Auto Switch to Auto position.
1. a) LCD displays Auto Start delay with set value
b) If need to change the above settings, within 10 seconds of display, press the Auto switch to manual position.
c) Now by rotating the Amps setting knob, you can change the delay time from 5 to 240 seconds and the LCD will display the changed value.
d) For changed value to be saved, press the Auto switch to Auto position. Now changed value is saved. (If do not want to save the changed value wait for 10 seconds and not to put the Auto Switch to Auto position)
2. a) Then LCD displays S.D. Delays with set value.
b) If need to change the above settings, within 10 seconds of display press the Auto switch to manual position.
c) Now by rotating the Amps setting knob, you can change the S.D. delay time from 6 to 60 seconds and the LCD will display the changed value.
d) For changed value to be saved, press the Auto switch to Auto position. Now changed value is saved. (If do not want to save the changed value wait for 10 seconds and not to put the Auto Switch to Auto position)
3. a) Then LCD displays Dry Run Set with set value.
b) If need to change the above settings, within 10 seconds of display press the Auto switch to manual position.
c) Now by rotating the Amps setting knob, you can change the Dry Run set from 0 to 30 Amps and the LCD will display the changed value.
d) For changed value to be saved, press the Auto switch to Auto position. Now changed value is saved. (If do not want to save the changed value wait for 10 seconds and not to put the Auto Switch to Auto position)
4*. a) Then LCD displays ‘E‘ or ‘D‘.
b) If need to change the above settings, within 10 seconds of display press the Auto switch to manual position
c) Now by turning the Amps setting knob to Right, you can change the settings to ‘D’ and by turning the Amps load setting knob to Left you can change the settings to ‘E’.
d) For changed value to be saved, press the Auto switch to the Auto position. Now changed value is saved. (If do not want to save the changed value wait for 10 seconds and not put the Auto Switch to Auto position)
5. If not changed the above settings, after 10 seconds LCD displays Voltages & Currents and comes back to normal operation mode.
*Note: Normally Factory Settings will be ‘E’.
If ‘E’ is set, the accuracy of the faulty supply will be more than 80% i.e., line to line voltage difference shall be less than 40 Volts.
If ‘D’ is set, the accuracy of the faulty supply will be than the 80%. % i.e., line-to-line voltage difference shall be more than 40 Volts and less than 90 Volts
Warranty against manufacturing defects from the date of sale: one year for starters and GSM modules, six months for capacitors.

Frequently asked questions
How is the MPAU different from a single phasing preventer and an auto switch?
A single phasing preventer only trips the motor when a phase is missing, and an auto switch only turns the motor on when power returns. The MPAU does both, and also protects the motor from dry run, overload, earth faults and cable faults, shows volts, amps and the reason for every trip, and can be controlled from your phone with the BTCO GSM module.
Which starters does it work with?
3 phase DOL and star delta starters for submersible pumps from 3 to 30 HP. Every BTCO 3 phase starter already has an MPAU inside.
What supply voltage does it work on?
3 phase supply from 380 to 450 V, 50 Hz. For uneven supply, you can choose setting E (line differences up to 40 V) or D (up to 90 V).
Do I need to set the overload amps myself?
No. The first time it is connected, the MPAU learns the motor's normal current and sets the overload trip amps by itself. You can reset them later if needed, or change them from the app with the GSM module.
How does the dry run protection work?
You set a dry run current from 0 to 30 A. If the motor draws less than that for 30 seconds, because the pump is running dry, the MPAU trips it and shows "Dry Run Trip". It then restarts the motor by itself after the dry restart time.
What happens after an overload trip?
The MPAU trips the motor within 15 to 30 seconds and shows "Overload Trip". If the auto switch is in the Auto position, it tries the motor once more after 10 minutes.
Does it protect against single phasing on the HT line too?
Yes. It detects single phasing on both the HT and LT lines, trips the motor and shows "Mains Problem" on the display.
Can I control the motor from my phone?
Yes. Connect the BTCO GSM mobile control module to switch the motor ON or OFF, get alerts, see voltage and current and set timers in the free BTCO Starters app, or use SMS.
Does the MPAU protect the motor from voltage fluctuation?
Yes. It trips on the current the motor draws, so when high or low voltage pushes the current out of the safe range, it stops the motor before it overheats. How voltage fluctuation protection works.
Does the MPAU have timers and a water level controller?
Yes, as options: built-in normal, cyclic and real time timers, and water level controller support. Ask for them when you order.
What warranty do I get, and where can I get service?
One year from the date of sale against manufacturing defects. Service is available at our sales and service centres across Karnataka.
Is the MPAU a dry run preventer?
Yes, and more. It senses dry run from the motor current, with no sensor in the borewell, and stops the motor before it burns; then it starts the motor again by itself after the dry restart time you set. It also protects against single phasing, overload, voltage fluctuation and earth faults.
Is it a motor protection relay?
It does the job of a digital motor protection relay and more: it watches the current on all 3 phases, trips the motor on overload, single phasing, dry run, voltage fluctuation and earth faults, shows the volts, the amps and the trip reason on its display, and also starts the motor by itself when power returns.
