Why does my motor need a star delta starter and not a DOL starter?
Bigger motors draw a very high current if they are switched straight on. A star delta starter first runs the motor in star, which takes much less current, then switches to delta for full power. This is easier on the motor, the cable and the supply. Double cable motors from 7.5 HP upwards are made for star delta starting; single cable motors up to 10 HP use a DOL starter.
Which variant should I choose for my motor?
Choose by your motor's HP: 7.5–12.5 HP, 15 HP, 20 HP or 25–30 HP. Each variant has the right contactors and relay range for that size. Tell us your motor's HP when you call and we'll confirm the right one.
Will it work on juice line (series line) or 2 phase supply?
No. The FASD-03 needs normal 3 phase supply. For 2 phase supply, choose the BTCO Combined Star Delta starter. On juice line it runs motors only up to 10 HP, because running a bigger motor on juice line is not safe.
What is the SD delay and can I change it?
The SD (star delta) delay is how long the motor runs in star before the starter switches it to delta. You can set it on the starter to suit your motor. Our videos show how to set it, in Kannada, Telugu and English.
Does the motor start again by itself after a power cut?
Yes. When power comes back, the starter waits for the auto start delay you have set (5 to 240 seconds) and then starts the motor on its own.
Does the motor start again by itself after a dry run trip?
Yes. You set a dry restart time on the starter. After a dry run trip it waits for that time, so the borewell can refill, and then starts the motor again on its own.
Do I need to set the overload amps myself?
No. The first time the starter is connected to your motor, it learns the motor's normal current and sets the overload trip amps by itself. You can also reset the trip amps later if needed.
Should I buy the variant with or without timer + WLC?
Choose the timer + WLC variant if you want the motor to run for set hours or at set times (normal, cyclic and RTC timers), or to fill a tank automatically with BTCO magnetic water level sensors. If you only need automatic ON/OFF and protection, the variant without timer + WLC is enough. See how the timers work and how the water level controller works.
Can I control the starter from my phone?
Yes, if the BTCO GSM mobile control module is attached. You can then switch the motor ON or OFF, get alerts and see voltage and current in the free BTCO Starters app or by SMS.
Does the FASD-03 protect the motor from voltage fluctuation?
Yes. It trips on the current the motor draws, so when high or low voltage pushes the current out of the safe range, it stops the motor before it overheats. How voltage fluctuation protection works.
Does the FASD-03 have dry run protection?
Yes. It senses dry run from the motor current, with no sensor in the borewell, and stops the motor before it overheats. After the dry restart time you set, it starts the motor again by itself. Dry run protection explained.
Does the FASD-03 have single phasing protection?
Yes, built in. When a phase goes missing, it stops the motor and shows Mains Problem, so you don't need a separate single phasing preventer. Single phasing protection explained.
What warranty do I get, and where can I get service?
One year from the date of sale against manufacturing defects, covering the MPAU unit inside the starter. Service is available at our sales and service centres across Karnataka.

To start big 3 phase motors gently. The motor starts in star connection, which draws much less current, and after the SD delay the starter switches it to delta for full power. Which starter do I need for a 15 HP, 20 HP or 25 HP submersible pump?
On normal 3 phase supply, the FASD-03: choose the 15 HP, 20 HP or 25–30 HP variant (or 7.5–12.5 HP for smaller double cable motors). On 2 phase supply, the Combined star delta starter runs double cable motors up to 25 HP. Not sure? Use Find the right starter.
Is it fully automatic or semi automatic?
Fully automatic. It starts the motor by itself when power returns (after the start delay you set), changes from star to delta by itself, and starts the motor again after a dry run trip once the dry restart time is over. Nobody has to go to the pump house to press a button.
Is this a complete star delta control panel?
Yes. It comes as a complete panel in a metal box, with the contactors for star and delta starting, the MPAU digital protection and auto start unit with its display, and the terminals for the supply and the motor's double cable.
Will it work with my Texmo, CRI or Kirloskar motor?
Yes. It works with double cable 3 phase submersible and borewell motors of any brand, for example Texmo, CRI or Kirloskar, as long as the motor's HP and cable match the variant you choose, and it protects the motor from burning just the same.
