What is a juice line, and will this starter run my motor on it?
In many villages, for some hours of the day the 3 phase supply is reduced: one line comes in at around 300 V and the other two are very low. This is called juice line or series line. The DOL-2/3 Combined starter runs 3 phase motors up to 10 HP on juice line, on 2 phase supply and on normal 3 phase supply.
Will it run on the 220 V single phase supply at home?
No. Juice line is the reduced 3 phase supply from the village line, not the 220 V single phase supply at home. The starter does not run a motor on home supply.
Which capacitors do I need?
Capacitors are sold separately. The right ones depend on your motor and the supply conditions at your farm, so our dealer or technician will choose them when the starter is installed. See BTCO capacitors.
Can I use it on normal 3 phase supply too?
Yes. On healthy 3 phase supply it runs the motor like a normal DOL starter. When the supply drops to 2 phase or juice line, it switches over by itself.
Which variant should I choose for my motor?
The 3–8 HP variant is for motors from 3 to 8 HP, and the 7.5–10 HP variant is for 7.5 to 10 HP motors. Tell us your motor's HP when you call and we'll suggest the right one.
Does the motor start again by itself when power comes back?
Yes, on 3 phase, 2 phase or juice line. When power comes back, the starter waits for the auto start delay you have set (5 to 240 seconds) and then starts the motor on its own.
Does the motor start again by itself after a dry run trip?
Yes. You set a dry restart time on the starter. After a dry run trip it waits for that time, so the borewell can refill, and then starts the motor again on its own.
Does it have timers?
Combined starters have no built-in timers. Attach the BTCO GSM mobile control module and you can set timers in the free BTCO Starters app, as well as switch the motor ON or OFF and get alerts on your phone.
What do "Check Capacitor" and "Rotor Lock Trip" mean?
"Check Capacitor" means the starter found a problem with one of the capacitors. "Rotor Lock Trip" means the motor stalled or jammed while running on 2 phase or juice line, and the starter stopped it to protect it. Our error code video (in Kannada) explains what to check, or call your dealer.
Does the Combined DOL starter protect the motor from voltage fluctuation?
Yes. It trips on the current the motor draws, so when high or low voltage pushes the current out of the safe range, it stops the motor before it overheats. How voltage fluctuation protection works.
Does the Combined DOL starter have dry run protection?
Yes. It senses dry run from the motor current, with no sensor in the borewell, and stops the motor before it overheats. After the dry restart time you set, it starts the motor again by itself. Dry run protection explained.
Can I run a 3 phase motor on 2 phase supply?
Yes. The Combined DOL starter runs a 3 phase single cable motor from 3 to 10 HP on 2 phase supply, on juice line, or on normal 3 phase supply, with capacitors chosen by your dealer.
Is a juice starter the same as a phase converter?
Farmers often call it a phase converter starter. It is not a separate converter box: the Combined starter itself runs your 3 phase motor on 2 phase or juice line, using capacitors chosen by your dealer, and protects the motor at the same time.
Up to what HP can I run a motor on juice line?
Up to 10 HP. The Combined DOL starter covers 3 to 10 HP; for the Combined star delta starter, only the 7.5–10 HP variant runs on juice line. Above 10 HP, juice line is not safe for the motor, so use 2 phase or 3 phase supply.
What warranty do I get, and where can I get service?
One year from the date of sale against manufacturing defects, covering the MPAU unit inside the starter, and six months on capacitors. Service is available at our sales and service centres across Karnataka.
Is this a capacitor starter for a 3 phase motor?
Yes. When a phase is missing, or on juice line, it uses capacitors to make up the missing phase so the 3 phase motor keeps running, and it switches the capacitors in and out by itself. That is why people also call it a capacitor starter or condenser starter. The capacitors are sold separately, and our dealer or technician chooses them for your motor.
Which starter runs a 5 HP or 7.5 HP 3 phase motor on 2 phase supply?
This one. The DOL-2/3 runs single cable 3 phase motors from 3 to 10 HP on 2 phase supply, on juice line and on normal 3 phase, with dry run, single phasing, overload and voltage fluctuation protection. Choose the 3–8 HP or 7.5–10 HP variant. For double cable motors from 7.5 to 25 HP, use the Combined star delta starter.
Will it work with my Texmo, CRI or Kirloskar motor?
Yes. It works with single cable 3 phase submersible and borewell motors of any brand, for example Texmo, CRI or Kirloskar, as long as the motor's HP and cable match the variant you choose, and it protects the motor from burning just the same.
What is the price of a juice starter (phase converter starter)?
